Review of "Ultimate Spider-Man #4" and "Anomaly #2"

You can check my "movie" theory out for yourself, as I believe "Ultimate Spider-Man #1" is still on the web at Marvel. A definite online "must see" for comic fans!

Another comment - in the past I was an avid buyer of Spider-Man comic. I liked the story and the character. I gave up buying them with the "clone" saga years back. I have occasionally bought Spider-Man comics since then, including the re-launch of the #1 issues a few years ago - but I found them lacking. And I found Byrne's "Spider-Woman" story just plain silly and unbelievable. So I find it refreshing that a new "jumping on" point for Spider-man is on the market, with better, more believable characters and a more believable world. I like that "New York" local is de-emphasized and the people and their feeling are emphasized. It makes for a much more human book.

My final rating is ****(4) out of *****(5) stars, or very good. Okay, it's very, very good - but I don't go for half stars. Maybe I rate it down just because I am a bit of a purest, and I'm slightly annoyed by all the extra twists and turns the book takes for the original story. I am sure many reviewers will give it the highest rating, and it definitely deserves consideration. But I am extremely stingy with my 5 star rating, and I'll stick to four - but I'll recommend you pick it up if you are a Spider-Man fan.

"Sting of the Scorpion" by story by Ellen Topkis, pencils by Fabian Chow.

This comic has an excellent story and storytelling, and incredible art. The people look like "real" people. Panels flow from one to another. It is obvious Fabian has spent a lot of time at the craft of comic books and especially at figure drawing. I think Fabian is ready for a top publisher to sign now. Ellen's story is excellent too. It most reminds me of "The Crimson Avenger" by Roy and Dann Thomas a number of years ago, but with a female main character. Oriented toward a mystery spy story with
