Comic Book Movie Update Nov 2000
I did run across some other interesting items on the web regarding comic books. Check out Four Color Review at http://4colorreview.com/ . They have a preview of the "Rat Bastard" animated show mentioned in here a number of weeks ago. Unfortunately, "Rat..." which had been in developed for UPN was put on permant hold by the producers, as apparently UPN is no longer interested. (Not "sit-commie enough?). Anyone want to fund this venture???? Gen 13 is released! A preview of the "Gen 13" animated video is available at Four Color Review. Comics 2 Film reports that the animated feature came out in the United Kingdom on November 6. Check it out. This carries a rating that says the animated movie is suitable for those 15 and up, and carries a retail price of 37.99 British Pounds - about $59.00 Speaking of trailers to check out, check out http://www.batmanbeyond.com for the trailer of the Batman Beyond : Return of the Joker. I hear the release date on this item is December 12, 2000 direct to video, but it may go briefly to theatrical release. A movie version of the comic book "Jay and Silent Bob" is under development at Dimension Films. Tentative release date is August 2001. Bad news if you are looking for the Spider-Man film to be released soon. The latest is that this movie release has been moved back from Summer 2001 to May 2002.
Good news for Crow fans. "Crow: The Salvation" movie is reported to be in the can and scheduled to released direct to video in 2001. Check out the promo poster. More news on Star Wars II. The initial live-action filming has wrapped up and movie is into post-production support. But don't cheer just yet. It is expected to be in editing and post-production for over a year. Then additional live footage is planned to pick up "missing" pieces from the first shooting. This should take place in mid-2001. Then the film will go back into post-production for another year and Lucas' crew will be franticly working on it until anticipated release in summer 2002. But until then I will give you a picture from the web. Anakin as a young man, maybe??? More news on the "Josie and the Pussycats" live action movie. Comics 2 Film reports that shooting wrapped up in Vancouver on Oct 26. According to the Comics 2 Film source, the film may be pretty good. The last song is kind of punk-rockish, so maybe you better hold the younger children and wait for the ratings and/or reviews. There is a question as to whether star Rachael Leigh Cook actually sang the songs, or whether she had a ghost-singer. Comics 2 Film's source thinks a better singer was brought in. Also the comic book trademark "cat" suits do not appear in the movie. How sad. Is this a product of the times? Are cats suits passe? Or just too silly for live action? Only their hairdressor knows for sure.
