What I thought . . . .

(Note: I will be referring to the last two weeks' reviews, so please read those reviews first. Thanks — Robert) Again, a great deal of effort went into the production of this issue. Last week's compliments apply. Again, I like the introduction; I like the fact Marvel took the time, effort and four pages to tell us what is going on.

This issue's premise — the heroes are convinced — it's time to leave the "pocket universe." Do they make it back? If so, how?

This issue stars with everyone gathered at the Fantastic Four's headquarters. A few say their good-byes. The cruel note is felt from those left behind who don't understand why they are to be left behind to die by friends they trusted. Ashema the celestial convinces all that she is who she says she is by — well, I won't say how, but it's a nice touch. All feel regret and sorrow at the imminent destruction of the "Pocket Universe" for reasons only the celestials know for sure . . . .

Meanwhile, Dr. Strange appeals to a higher power for the sake of the trillion of lives inside the Franklin's blue child's ball (The location of the "Pocket Universe" — four squares anyone?)

Anyway, the Pocket Universe Heroes, (The Fantastic Four, Captain America, Iron Man, and the Avengers) climb into the Dr. Richards/Dr. Doom Spaceship and enter the Negative Zone as Ashema holds open the portal.

So everyone settles back for a nice, uneventful ride home — NOT! In the backdrop of the negative zone the story comes to a conclusion which I won't give away here. (and what would a Dr. Doom story be without a power grab? Boring, of course!) As a hint, it involves Doom, Thor, Dr. Strange, Ashema and the rest of the celestials.

Now for the conclusion. There are only four possibilities here: 1) The "Marvel" universe survives, the other does not. 2) The "pocket universe" survives, the other does not. 3) Both survive. 4) Both go "boom." The last outcome is definitely out as there would be nothing left in the Marvel universe except X-books. (Hmmm maybe that's not such a bad idea after all.)
