Review of "Heroes Reborn -- The Return #3 of 4"

Dec 19, 1997 - © Robert Smithers

On the downside, the story is so contrived that that it suffers from "over-plotting." If you read the additional credits in the front on all the story contributors, it's easy to see why. This issue becomes "cutesy" rather than the grim specter it was meant to be. The art, in my opinion, suffers from over-simplicity. When the most interesting artwork is Hawkeye, and the pocket universe version of The Falcon, you have some problems. (Just my opinion)

In conclusion, the production value is excellent (and you pay for it!) The story gets you from Point A to Point B with a few chuckles along the way. Parts of the story are "funny cruel," but that is kind of the Peter David style. The artwork is stylized, but adequate. The lack of detail backgrounds, the "twentysomething" age of the characters, and the predictability of the story diluted some of the enjoyment of this issue. I give it a final rating of ** out of ***** , or Fair.

Comments???!!!
