Megacon 2000 Pictures and Comments
What's was good: You can't beat having Stan Lee as a guest. Here is a man that gave me hundreds of hours of stories as a youth, and to be able to meet him was an honor. I was amazed he was so able-bodied and physically strong at age 77. Nicole Wood and Jennifer Lavole. Playboy centerfolds. Enough said. Sorry guys, I'm married so no pictures. Did I mention Rena Mero (the actress formerly know as "Sable") was also there? Also no pictures. Sorry again. I missed the talk by Magic Johnson. No report on this one, sorry. I also missed Brain Pulido of Chaos and Bill Tucci of Crusade. Thanks for coming to the show, and I am sorry I missed your talks. John Romita, Sr, Joesph Lisner, George Perez, Don Perlin, Rick Maguire, Alex Saviuk, Don Ayres, Paul Ryan all to the other artists that took the time to sign autographs. You people were the highlight of the show for me. It was very interesting to meet folks like Rick Maguire who was the inker on "The Question" comic in the late 1980's to early 1990's for DC. A very nice man, who is also friends with Alex Saviuk. Alex is pictured here with his work on X-Files comic book. Alex did a run of about 80 comics on Web of Spider-Man. I really liked his "Web" drawings. Alex told me sometimes he wishes he was still doing Spider-Man. I guess steady work in comics is getting harder to come by. Paul Ryan was extremely nice, and is a friend of Harlan Ellison. Harlan is a big fan of Paul's work on Fantastic Four. Paul also mentioned that Tom DeFalco was great to work with. The best way to describe Tom is as the original Yancy-street kid, as Tom grew up in a tough New York neighborhood. Special thanks to Roy Thomas. I admire Roy and his prolific writing and editing skills. It was a great pleasure to meet him. Some folks may think Roy's stories are old fashion, but I always saw his writing as more positive and optimistic than most folks. He rose above the dark-and-sicko stuff many others focus on. I admire him greatly for that.
