In this, my first editorial, I will give you an overview of my opinions on comic books. I will go into depth of various comic related topics as the weeks progress. I am not in any way affiliated with any comic book artist, author, publisher, or corporation. In my opinion, this is an advantage -- I can be completely unbiased in my opinions.
I enjoy comics by all major publishers, including Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, Malibu, Valiant and others. Small publishers and independent presses I tend to take a "wait and see" attitude. I do not personally own any golden age comics. However, I have great respect for time and history and those historical comics that reflect the concerns of that time : surviving the depression or winning World War II . I own a few silver age comics, which I enjoy greatly. The story was cleaner, simpler, and always wrapped up within three episodes. I own about three thousand bronze age/modern age comic books. I collect them for the enjoyment of the story and the art. I have always purchased comic books for enjoyment first, and for value second. In my next editorial I will explain more fully my philosophy on purchasing comics.
