LIGHTSABERS RECALLED In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Hasbro is voluntarily recalling about 618,000 Star Wars Lightsaber toys for repair. The spring in the battery compartments of these toys can dislodge, causing the batteries to overheat or rupture. This can cause burns to consumers. Hasbro has received 38 reports of Lightsaber batteries overheating, including six reports of batteries rupturing. There are three reports of minor burns to consumers, and one consumer reported experiencing eye irritation.
CASE OF 'HORNY' AUSTIN CLOSED The Clayton County Police Department consider the case of the Austin Powers action figure that says, "Do I make you horny, baby?" closed. As reported earlier, a Georgia woman had filed obscenity charges against Toys R Us for stocking the figure, which Todd McFarlane of McFarlane Toys called a case of human error. Authorities in Clayton County decided the action figure "wasn't that obscene," Captain Doug Jewitt said.

SLINGERS, NOVA CANCELLED IN SEPTEMBER Marvel's advance solicitations for September shipping comics are out and the publisher has announced that two series, Joseph Harris and ChrisCross' Slingers, and Erik Larsen and Joe Bennett's Nova are ending with issue #12 and #7, respectively. "After looking into various options to keep the series alive and profitable at all, Marvel has decided to end the series with issue #12," said Harris. "In light of other recent cancellations, I guess I should consider us relatively lucky to have lasted as long as we did." Later Robert
