(Continued from last week.) The footnote for this article contains the code for the abbreviations.

Gladstone Comics - (Started - 1985) Publishes Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck comics. Writers and artist vainly strive to continue the legacy of Carl Banks. If you are looking for a good, wholesome comic for your younger sibling, you can't go wrong with this one. [G M]

Harris Comics - (Started - 1991) Bought the rights to Warren Publishing character's in 1983,, and re-revived them in black and white in 1991. Revival did not really succeed until they added color in 1992.. with Vampirella #1. Another revival of old characters, but Vampirella is for mature audiences only. Revival of Warren's Errie and Creepy line of scary stories. [R M W]

Highbrow Entertainment - (Started - 1991) Another studio started under the Image banner. Started by Eric Larson. Publishes Savage Dragon, Freak Force, and Super-Patriot. A revival of TMNT is planned for this year. (Write your own smart aleck comment on TMNT and place it here). [PG-13 I O ]

London Night Studios - (Started - 1992) Everette Hartsoe started this one man show with the publication of Razor #0 This comic was on the leading edge of the 'bad girl" craze and is still riding the wave. Personally, I recommend these comics for mature audiences only. [R I O]

Malibu (Started - 1986) This company was started by Scott Rosenberg, and there was a major re-launch in 1995 when the company was bought out buy Marvel. The comics were cut to six titles and relaunched with some characters from the Marvel Universe added. Prime and Ultraforce seem to retain solid popularity. Malibu was the first company to color all their comics using computers. [PG-13 M]

Marvel - (Started - 1939) You read that right. Marvel (formerly Timely Comics) has been around since 1939. This company started with Super-Heroes slugging it out with Nazi's through the mid 1940's. The company then turned to graphic horror (published under the Atlas name) until Stan Lee's revival in the early 1960's. During any given month, up to six of the top ten best sellers are Marvel Comics. [PG-13 B ]

Tekno Comics - (Started - 1994) Recently relaunched under the "Big E" publishing name. Big E is a big time video, TV, etc. entertainment megalith. In my opinion, I give this company a lot of credit for 1) Using someone else's money 2) Hiring big name writers Neil Gaman, Lenord Nimoy, Isaac Asmov, and Mickey Spillane. 3) Distributing the comics themselves, including to their own "company owned" kiosks in malls throughout North America. [PG-13 M]
