========================================== JIM LEE TAKES OVER CAPTAIN AMERICA AND THE AVENGERS TITLES World's Largest Comic Book Publisher Expands Heroes Reborn Relationship With Jim Lee NEW YORK, March 4, 1997 - -Veteran comic book artist Jim Lee will oversee Marvel Comics Group's classic super hero titles Captain America and The Avengers it was announced today by Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics, Bob Harras. Lee is currently helming Iron Man and The Fantastic Four for the world's largest comic book publisher. With the addition of Captain America, one of Marvel's most historic and established characters, and The Avengers, Jim Lee and his team will spearhead the concluding chapters of the Heroes Reborn saga. Heroes Reborn unfolded last September following a summer-long battle with super villain Onslaught. The Onslaught story line kicked off in Uncanny X-Men #322 and affected virtually every title in the Marvel Universe. This led to an unprecedented development last fall where Captain America, Iron Man, The Fantastic Four and The Avengers were transformed, causing a re-alignment in the Marvel Universe. "Marvel's September '96 story event, referred to as Heroes Reborn, illustrates the company's desire to create an open door policy for talented comic book writers and artists to join the Marvel family. This series marked the return of former Marvel artists Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld. Liefeld will conclude his work on Captain America and The Avengers this month. Schreff, President and COO, Marvel Entertainment Group and Stephen A. Geppi, President and CEO, Diamond Comic Distributors. Under the terms of the agreement, Diamond will become Marvel Comics' North American specialty sales agent, distributing Marvel Comics to comic book shops.
