Adam Fortier does a nice interview with founder of Speakeasy Comics Michael May at comic world news here http://www.comicworldnews.com/cgi-bin/in... . Everyone is looking for the next CrossGen comics, but the lineup at Speakeasy it looks to me to be more like the next Image Comics rather than CrossGen. Assuming it succeeds. And in this business, that's a big "if".
Check out their books at http://www.speakeasy.com Or maybe Speakeasy is the next IDW? Speaking of IDW... have you noticed? The 1970's are gone. Even the early 1980 trends are moving on and we are into the late 1980's and early 1990's throwbacks. Anyone remember Transformers? Robots in disguise. It was the rage in the 1980's and Dreamwave launched the comic in 2002. IDW is re-launching the comic this year with Transformers #0 October 19, 2005. The premiere issue will be $0.99 cents followed by the monthly title. The pre-order is 100,000 copies - unheard of for a smaller publisher. But can they keep it up when the price goes to $2.99? Check out more on Newsarama here http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthre... Speaking or transformers, Hasbro and IDW have team up earlier this year and you have undoubtedly been seeing the toys. Check out the toy announcement here. http://www.idwpublishing.com/?path=news&... Back is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They have their own official website here http://www.ninjaturtles.com/ in addition to being on Saturday morning on Fox. The latest comic is issue #23 from Mirage Studios, pictured here. A preview of the interior pages are on the TMNT website here http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/mirag... Peter Laird, one of the originators of TMNT way back in 1988 has returned the shelled ones to prominence. Speaking of Saturday morning, GI Joe is back on the television (as well as in comics). Devil's Due is the publisher of GI Joe comics and their website is at http://www.devilsdue.net Veteran comic book writer Joe Casey handles "GI Joe: America's Elite" which is now up to issue #4 pictures here. Joe was a popular writer on Marvel's X-Men and Cable a few years ago and has done a number of titles for different companies since then. If it's the late 1980's comeback with all of the characters of violence, can the T&A be far behind? Vampirella. Michael May of Comic World news thinks publishers are trying to make more intelligent comic and rolling T&A characters into them. Check out his thoughts here http://www.comicworldnews.com/cgi-bin/in... And I didn't even mention Thundercats!!! Go To Page: 1 2
