As I am sure all you comic-files know, DC is pushing it's prelude to Infinity Crisis with multiple mini-series leading up to the seven issue "Infinity Crisis" series in October. Both Jim Lee and George Perez will be doing covers for the series. Here is George's cover from the first issue. The small picture does not do it justice, please look for other pictures on the web, and don't tell them I sent you!

In other news from DC, Mad Magazine is launching "MAD Kids" this November. The new magazine is aimed at 6-11 year olds. DC is also launching "MAD Classics" which will reprint their parodies. In the first "MAD Classics" magazine they parody "War of the Worlds" and "Harry Potter", so those of you expecting the 1950's stuff may be disappointed. This issue is on sale this month.

My opinion........

Why do I dislike today's graphic novels? Both DC and Marvel are publishing collected edition of issues that they have just published! Nothing like killing your second printing opportunity to beat your competition! DC Announced Aug 10 that they will be collecting DAY OF VENGEANCE, THE OMAC PROJECT, VILLAINS UNITED and RANN-THANAGAR WAR six issue series into trade paperbacks to be released in November and December. Right After Infinity Crisis starts in October! All of there series are on about issue 4 this month and will finish in October - so one month after they finish the trade will be on the street.

Marvel, is just as speedy with their recent "Runaways" issues collected into a trade paperback. IS there any doubt "House of M" trade paperback will be out as soon as the series finishes?

Marvel did do a good thing - before bringing out their new "1602" series (as in "What if the Marvel Heroes appeared in 1602 AD?") they put out a trade in June of the previous 1602 series. That's the right way to do it, in my humble opinion.
