April 2005

Okay here's the deal. I been very busy and have not been able to update my comics Here at Suite 101 as often as I would like.

Here's what you can do to help

1) Click lots and lots of pages, especially comic book article pages here at Suite 101

2) Write in to editors clamoring for more comic book articles.

3) Insist they give me a stipend for this work. That way my family will approve of my writing here and I can make a few bucks.

Well, I can dream, can't I?

Here's a picture of Green Lantern Artist Ethan Van Sciver - It has nothing to do with today's article, but it's a great picture; also, a not so great picture of silver age artist George Tuska.

Okay, here's the scoop on MegaCon 2005

First up, Arnie Star (The longest running artist on Star Wars comic books) with movie previews. (Yeah, I never heard of him either, except for trailers at conventions. I have seen some minor work he did at Marvel.) I could not stay for all of the trailers, as Arnie put on a behind the scenes look at the Discovery Channels "making of" some TV show on "What if Dinosaurs were real in Medieval times? It was good, but went on, and on, and on twenty plus minutes. So if I missed some important announcement at the end of the movies, add it to the discussion here. Or you could sue me. Or you could send me a check (Just kidding).

Again I digress. Here are the comic related scoops

John Carpenter is writing a Wonder Woman movie.

Joel Silver, with the Wachowski brothers, is going to make the graphic novel "V is for Vendetta" into a movie

Battlestar Galactica the TV show has been renewed for 20 new TV episodes starting Fall 2005

Ben Afleck is making a movie about the life and improbable of George Reeves, who starred as Superman in the TV show from the 1950's.

Nicolas Cage will star as Ghost Rider in the movie. Peter Fonda will also appear in this movie. (In case you don't know and as reminder for all of you who do know, Peter Fonda first became famous the move "Easy Rider", a motorcycle movie.)

Steven Spielberg will produce the next big hit - "Transformers- The Movie"

Warner Brothers will remake their Looney Toon characters and place them in the future. Bugs Bunny will now be "Buzz Bunny", and so on.
