Deaths

Harry Lampert, artist for the golden age Flash comic passed away this November 14, 2004. Harry was 88 years old. I only found very brief articles on the web. This one is typical http://www.tallahassee.com/mld/tallahass... . I am sure I have a picture of Harry, and will edit this article to add it when I get some time.

I met Harry the last few years at MegaCon in Orlando Florida. He seemed to be genuinely and nice person to talk with. He was more interested in talking about his personal creation for a comic he did for the Armed Service in World War II about a fly that went through basic training, just as all of the GIs did. Not sure why he did not have more Flash material except ones he had drawn recently.

Comics

Jae Lee is back working exclusively with Marvel comics on a "moody" Hulk comic to be written by Peter David. More on Jae Lee here http://www.cinescape.com/0/editorial.asp...

DC Comics previously announced that a six-issue mini-series called "Albion" would be published through its Wildstorm imprint. The comics was created by Alan and Leah Moore and John Reppion, and drawn by Shane Oakley. Albion will revive many old comics characters which first appeared in British comics in the 1960s such as master criminal The Spider and invisible thief The Steel Claw -- possibly two of the first UK comics "anti-heroes", although both characters were softened later in their run. Albion is set to launch in the summer of 2005. Check out more on British comic character revival from a story by John Freeman at Comic World News at http://www.comicworldnews.com/cgi-bin/in...

Comics on the Web

DC is hyping its "America's Best Comics" by putting fill size PDF files on the web for download. If you have not seen one of these comics, why not try it out. All it takes is time (and a fast internet connection will help!) The files are all over 5 MB of _comics

Check out the website here http://www.dccomics.com/features/abc/ and in the left-hand column click on "FULL ISSUE sneak peaks ". This will lead you to a page with four full comics a preview you can download.

I'd like to tell you more about these comics, but personally I am not a big fan of America's Best Comics. I will admit that Alan Moore is a top-notch writer from what little I have read of these comics, they are not about extreme violence or scantly clad women. I think they are more about a person (fictional character) thrown into a situation and how will they will react. If anyone knows more about these comics than me, please post a discussion related to this article and let us know more about it. Or, if you are reading the previews, tell us in a new discussion what you thought of them.
