THE TRUNK SPACE ART GALLERY TO FEATURE COMICS AND SEQUENTIAL ART SHOW IN JULY


National contributors who are not attending are:

+ Matt Feazell, long time creator of Cynical Man, which appeared in Scott McCloud's Zot! in the 1980's (Hamtrack, MI)

+ Jim Mahfood, underground comics legend, self publisher, creator of Grrl Scouts, Stupid Comics (appearing monthly in Java) and artist on Ultimate Spider-man and Peter Parker, Spectacular Spider-man (Los Angeles, CA)

+ Marc Calvary, a zine-creator and publisher since 1993, winner of the Writer's Digest Award For Best Art Design, will be sending in sequential art in different mediums than pen and ink (photography, prose) (Eugene, OR)

+ Jeffrey Brown, creator of autobiographic comic novels Clumsy and Unlikely, nominated for Harvey and Ignatz Awards (Chicago, IL)

+ Jim McLauchlin, founder of ACTOR Comic Fund, will be loaning some of his personal art for display at the show; other pieces to be determined, courtesy of ACTOR, will be featured as well (Los Angeles, CA)

WHEN: The Trunk Space will present the following events during July:

Friday, July 2, 2004 (free): Opening Night, no cover charge. Starting at 7pm, doors will open for a two live mural art shows with music from DJ Red Bird. At 7pm, see Blue Coble and David Bessent weave mural magic, and at 10pm, Rob Osborne and Albert Martinez give the crowd another shot of painting calamity. All art will be for sale at the end of the night.

Saturday, July 3, 2004 ($8 cover charge): Galapagos Improv troop will be performing, featuring local cartoonist Brandon Huigens at 7pm. Then, at 8pm, Drag Diva-Vera Los Vegas and friends will showcase their wares in a drag show.

Saturday, July 10, 2004 ($5 cover charge): Veggie Hot Dog BBQ!! Live bands all night, starting at 9pm! Featuring No Lily, with Blind Mice comics creator Eric Mengel on the drums, The Needies, a Texas punk/folk two person band featuring I Like Apple Juice creator Travis Nichols, and Workshirt Wonder, on of AZ�s best ska units and a favorite band of Quite Lovely Comics studio.

Friday, July 16, 2004 (free): Grand Friday�s Artist Reception. Come meet and talk to local cartoonists, writers and artists! Pick up tons of great merchandise from the creators themselves!
