Four Cartoonists Hit the Road
Highwater, Black Eye, and Alternative Comics creators tour Northeast to
promote graphic novels
Cambridge, Massachusetts: Highwater Books, Black Eye Books, and Alternative Comics are proud to present a comics publishing first.
Tom Hart (The Sands, Hutch Owen's Working Hard, New Hat, Triple Dare), Dylan Horrocks (Hicksville, Pickle), Megan Kelso (Queen of the Black Black, Girlhero), and James Kochalka (Tiny Bubbles, Magic Boy and the Word of God, Paradise Sucks, Quit Your Job, Mermaid, Triple Dare, The Horrible Truth About Comics) will make a series of stops at comics shops and independent bookstores in the Northeast this fall to celebrate the concurrent releases of their new graphic novels.
Covering territory from Burlington, Vermont, to Baltimore, Maryland, the tour will also make stops in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Providence, Rhode Island, and New York City. The tour will culminate in Bethesda, Maryland, at the Small Press Expo, where all four cartoonists will be special guests on the "New Voices in American Comics" panel.
Each cartoonist has spent the past five years creating a body of work that is humorous and personal - with a common intent to create intelligent fiction that can be enjoyed by adults everywhere.

Cartoonist Bios
Tom Hart first came to the attention of the reading public with his anti-corporate screed, Hutch Owen's Working Hard. He spent the last couple of years completing his 200-page comic, The Sands (Black Eye Books, 1998), a manic meditation on the nature of love, maturity, and responsibility. It follows the development of a married couple's relationship after they move to a Middle Eastern desert. Through the various characters that the husband, Little Hawk, encounters, The Sands
