There is an excellent story update on the CrossGen's "El Cazador" comic book on pirates in the 1600's at Newsarama at http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthre...

Brady at Newsarama updates the announcement made by CrossGen at MegaCon 2003 that this book will be coming out this fall. In the article Newsarama talks to Chuck Dixon and Chuck says the book will be accurate according the history of the 1600's. This means that the book will be a fictional period piece; there will be no super-heroes, and no sigils, only people of that time. The story will not follow history, but use history, and the people and technology of the age as a backdrop for a rousing adventure.

As the article points out, this was not a fun time. Life was brutal. Travel was foot, animal or sailboat - taking months to get anywhere. Battles were quick and savage.

As Chuck says "It's going to be a fun series, but yeah, we're going to show it's a pretty miserable time to be alive."

Check out Jim Starlin's web page at http://www.starlin.com for a couple of preview looks at the Namor comic (Scene reminds me of the picture from Crux #1) and Thanos miniseries (are look excellent on this one).

Speaking of Jim Starlin, Check out his Kid Kosmos character, in the complete comic book http://www.kidkosmos.net/ . Jim also briefly tells of this attempt to create the character, and the he had to walk away from it for six months, as it just was not right. .
