Since last update the Hulk movie has come out and hit about $60 million for it’s first weekend. Excellent, but some suggest that the studio was expecting closer to $70 million. I would feel sorry for these folks, but I simply cannot. They will make plenty on this movie, so why quibble about 10 on the opening. Is it art or is it greed? I would say, but you already know the answer to that one.
=========================== News coming from a Marvel press conference today is that Neil Gaiman will write an eight issue miniseries fro Marvel called “1602”. What is this story about? It’s a world where Gaiman says “the might world of Marvel has come into existence 400 years early for reasons that will become apparent as the series progresses.” What is this story not? Marvel and Gaiman insist that this is not a What if? Story, not an Elseworlds story, but don’t really explain what kind of story it is, saying wait in see. In this world there are analogues to Nick Fury, Stephen Strange, Matt Murdock and X-men called “Witch Breed”. The story will be a mix of historical facts and the Marvel Universe, and will end in 1969 with the start of much of the Marvel Universe today.
