Redecorate Your Dorm Room

It's Spring! It's about time your dorm room gets a facelift!Don't get stuck in this drab little space - here are some ideas for you and your friends to do to liven up your small room!

Though you don't have a lot of room to work with and not many options for moving your furniture around, there are ways to make your dorm room look more spacious. The best way to do this is to be completely organized. You'll need to be open minded and throw out whatever you're not using - really, just get rid of it! On a Friday night, partner up with 3 of your friends and each of you take turns going through each others stuff to help you get rid of junk! Order pizza, crank the music and have fun doing it. You'll end up laughing at old pictures and memorabilia that you may have forgotten about.

Make this a fun event. Have your friends bring over clothes, shoes and hair stuff that they don't want anymore or are willing to swap with you until the end of the semester.

So now you're ready to get organized...get super creative and use tin cans, gift boxes and plastic containers that you have from Christmas or ones that are constantly getting in the way. Go to a craft store and buy some adhesive paper and cover the cans and boxes with colorful patterns and designs. Glue cool buttons on the outside of them or put a picture of your favorite rock star on them. Throw all of your pens/pencils/markers on your desk. You'll get them out of the way and they'll be easy to get to when you need them in a hurry. You can also use a box or a basket for Incoming and Outgoing mail. That way, your mail is not all scattered around and you'll remember to send your parents and friends letters!

Another great thing to do is to go to a grocery store or somewhere where they give out free boxes. Look for boxes that are thin and long. Throw winter clothes in there or whatever is getting in your way and store it under your bed. If you have a bunk bed, you'll need to split a half with your roommate (unless you decide not to tell her/him at all!).

Get rid of that desktop organizer that you got for graduation - you want a clean uncluttered desk. Instead, use your drawers. Go to the dollar store and buy tiny plastic baskets that will fit 3 or 4 neatly into a drawer. Then, organize all of your paperclips, staplers, etc., etc. keeping things that you use often in the front and stuff that you probably won't look at but want to keep in the back.
