LSU is in some trouble in this one. Their star running back, LeBrandon Toefield, is out. Their starting quarterback, Rohan Davey, may be out. Davey, incidentally, is this year's winner of the Shaun King Memorial Overhyped Quarterback Award. But LSU isn't worried. If Davey doesn't play, they defer to backup star Matt Mauck. Whoever it is can't even come close to matching their counterpart on Illinois' side of the ball, Kurt Kittner. Kittner is an amazing player, and expect him to hook up with receiver Brandon Lloyd early and often. And just in case that isn't enough to bury the Tigers, Rocky Harvey and Carey Davis are more than able to finish the job. The Fighting Illini are going to win this one big.

Rose Bowl Presented by AT&T - Miami vs. Nebraska (1/3)
It's the 88th Rose Bowl, and the Big 10 and Pac 10 were cordially not invited. Illinois and Oregon will stand idly by while Miami (11-0) and Nebraska (11-1) duke it out for a National Championship. Miami will have to substitute for both conferences. After all, they beat Penn State and Washington, so they have at least played teams from the Big 10 and Pac 10. That should count for something, right?

Forget Oregon and Colorado. The Cornhuskers and Hurricanes are the right two teams to play this game. Miami has done enough to win all of their games behind the arm of Ken Dorsey, the legs of Clinton Portis, the hands of Andre Johnson and Jeremy Shockey, and the mouth of Ed Reed. They had the best season of any team this year, going 11-0. Nebraska played the best football of anyone in the country behind QB Eric Crouch, RBs Darrian Diedrich and Thunder Collins, TE Tracey Wistrom, WR Wilson Thomas, and OL Tunio Funoti. Their defense has become the surprise of the year. Until this game. And then Nebraska will become the surprise of the year, shaking off the late-season loss to Colorado and winning it all.
