Here's a look at the other Gamebreakers, the ones I chose as backups. Amid a few disappointments, there are some that are ready to move up to the first team. Take a look:
RB: DeShaun Foster (Senior, UCLA). Foster has propelled himself to the top of the Heisman race, rushing 167 times for 920 yards (5.5 yards per carry) and 10 touchdowns. He has also increased his effectiveness as a receiver out of the backfield, catching 8 passes for 107 yards (13.4 avg.) and 1 touchdown. Deonce Whitaker (Freshmen, San Jose State). I knew I was gambling - once again - by picking a freshman, but Whitaker hasn't done too poorly for himself this season. He has 229 yards on 94 carries (3.6 yard average) and a rushing touchdown. He also has three catches for 13 yards (4.3 avg.) WR: Willie Quinney (Junior, UAB). Quinney has 25 receptions on the season for 216 yards (8.6 yard average) and a touchdown. He also has 2 carries for 23 yards and a rushing touchdown. Not bad, not bad. Donald Shoals (Senior, Tulsa). Here's an impressive player that you may not have heard of. Shoals has 44 catches for 584 yards (a 13.3 yard average!) and 2 touchdowns. He also has 2 carries, but for only 8 yards. Jamal Stevens (Senior, Eastern Michigan). Stevens only has 8 receptions this season for 41 yards... nothing to write home about. TE: Tracey Wistrom (Senior, Nebraska). Bloodlines don't come any better than the Wistrom's. Brother Grant was on the 'Huskers team that won three National Championships in four seasons in the mid-90's, and also has a Super Bowl ring with the St. Louis Rams. Tracey plays on the other side of the ball, but he does it very, very well. He has amassed 18 receptions for 273 yards (25.2 yards per catch) and 2 touchdowns, in addition to providing a serious presence as a punishing run and pass blocker. OL: Marc Colombo (Senior, Boston College); Andre Gurode (Senior, Colorado); Luke Butkus (Freshman, Illinois); Chris Fe'esago (Senior, San Jose State); Enoch DeMar (Junior, Indiana.) P: Joey Biasatti (Junior, TCU). Biasatti has 41 punts for 1,766 yards (a 43.1 yard average), and has booted a 71 yarder. Amazingly, he has locked 14 balls inside the 20 and forced 4 fair catches, though he has lost focus a few times, as witnessed by 7 touchbacks.
