My last two article have dealt with obesity and being over weight. Being over weight has many implications for both physical and mental health. Lately the information about dieting and weight loss has been even more confusing than usual. For so many years we have been led to believe that by cutting out the fat in our diet, not only would we loose weight, we would insure health. A low fat diet had been touted to reduce your risk of developing heart disease, cancer and many other health problems. Now we are bombarded by those on a high protein diet (which is high in fat) loosing weight. I personally for years now have been skeptical of the low fat, high carbohydrate diet. I believe that moderation and balance or the keys to a healthy diet and a healthy life. The problem remains what is a healthy diet is. I have scoured the World Wide Web (WWW) for a program that is easy to use and allows the user to determine if their diet is healthy. I believe that I have found that program and wanted to share it with you.
I don’t usually do an article one specific web site, but I think that this one is too important not to your health. This web site allows you to track your nutrition and your complete health. With the current state of health care, gone is the family physician that knows you and your family history. Gone is the physician who has the luxury of time to get to know you. It must be replaced with the patient who knows themselves and their family history. There has been a lot of talk with the insurance companies of a gate keeper physician who can manage a patient and basically keep costs down. You must become the gatekeeper for yourself. You need to keep tract of your own medical history and prescriptions, which can be done at this site. You can also research your medical conditions and prescriptions. You can then present this information to your physician at your visit. Only if you take charge of your health can you be assured someone who knows you and your history. Hopefully I have convinced you how important you are to your health, now let me introduce you to the web site that can help you take care of yourself. WebMD Health is a free consumer resource featuring a news center, a medical library, health and wellness advice, video clips, and a doctor directory. Just a few of the features I like are the health record, the nutrition/exercise record, drug and herb directory, diseases and conditions and medical tests. Go To Page: 1 2
