As I mentioned in my last article. Weight control has become clear to me. As you age it becomes virtually impossible to loose weight by limiting food alone. Yes, of course you must eat a balanced diet. However, it is hard to get all the vitamins and minerals your body requires by getting less than 1600 calories a day. As you get more sedentary you require few calories. But if you include exercise you can get by with eating a little more and there are many benefits to exercise, besides weight loss. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 75% of Americans do the get the recommended amount of exercise. They recommend a moderate exercise like walking five times a week for a half an hour each day. I believe you need to add weight lifting also. After all, muscle burns more calories than fat does. With all of this in mind read on to find resources on the web to help with your livelong goal of weight management and health.
Here are some of the other benefits of exercising. These benefits include; better quality of sleep; increased resistance to colds and illness; lower cholesterol and triglycerides; increased bone mass (helps prevent osteoporus); lowers the rate at which your body ages; reduces blood pressure; uses up some of the chemicals your body produces during stress; reduces your risk of developing heart disease and cancer; and you feel better. Exercise, like money in the bank, can be considered to be like an investment in health. I hope you are convinced to off the couch and get some exercise.
