Even though I love nutrition and writing for Suite101.com I have fallen behind. During my struggle of trying to fit writing into my life, I realized that this is "reality nutrition". Just as there is no time to write, there is no time to eat well. However, when I don't eat well, I am more tired, less organized and less likely to eat well. I sure you get the picture. So, I have determined that in order to find the time to write I need to take care of myself and find out why I don't have the time to write, or eat well. Then I had an epiphany, why not write about the journey?
So, the idea behind "reality nutrition" is that nutrition does not happen in a vacuum, it happens in real life. In real life we must find the time to take care of ourselves. I believe the first step is to analyze what is going on in your life, "the good, the bad and the ugly". If we do not examine our reality there is no way to change improve it. I have seen this with so many people and diets. They go on a low-fat, high protein, or high carbohydrate diet without even looking at what they are eating. In order to know what to change, you need to know what you are doing. My idea is to examine my life and see why I am not having time to fit my health in. Why can't I eat right, why don't I exercise, relax, or find the time to write. The first thing that I must acknowledge is that I am doing a lot. However, I must also admit that I am not as organized as I would like to be. I have many reasons and excuses for being disorganized the main one being that I don't have the time to be organized. What is so clear is that I really do not have the time to not be organized. The real reason that I don't take the time to eat well, exercise, relax or write is because it is not at the top of my priority list. It's at the part of the list to be done if I get everything else done. It's kind of like taking a vacation after I get caught up at work. Well I never get caught up and therefore never go on vacation. I have seen too many relatives get sick or die before they take that vacation they wanted to take their whole life. It is a goal of mine to enjoy my life. But the reality is that it's far down on my list. Go To Page: 1 2
