Why do we forget what we learned in education class?

In fact, it is pointless to even consider that the invader has any needs. Right now, you have a need for a skull which is all in one piece.

So why consider that some of your students have to deal with abusive parents and negative self-concepts? You have to look out for Numero Uno, and that's who the students seem to be after!

Rather, there is only one performance objective which we have in mind for an invader, and that is for the invader to surrender. That's why some teachers like to see a roomful of students who are still and quiet, whether they're learning anything or not.

There is only one technique which can force an invader to surrender, and that is fear as a motivator. No wonder, then, that this is the only technique which is used by too many members of our profession.

Next time you feel tempted to stand on the desk and scream at the students, ask yourself how you are seeing those students. Are they developing individuals in need of your guidance, or are they enemies bent on your destruction?
