TEACHING THE WORLD TO SING

lips
" I'D LIKE TO TEACH THE WORLD TO SING.... IN PERFECT HARMONY ". Remember, this song from the Carpenters' 1970's repertoire.

NOW is the time for ALL singers to lift their voices in song and attempt to heal this fragile world. Please join in prayer and SING for the victims of the September 11th tragedy

Music is all around us. You may experience it with the first rays of sunlight shimmering on the lakes and streams or in the fluttering wings of birds, soaring into the infinite blue sky.

My memories of musical songs mingle with the wind, rustling through the trees and the gently nodding flowers dancing along with the breeze. I used to see music in the gossamer clouds and even realized lyrics in the shapes that the sky painted for my imagination.

As artists, we are generally, more sensitive to our environment than others. Atleast, we accept the vibrational inspirations that dictate our emotional stability as accomplished performers.

Our society , however is not accustom to this inner disturbance and conflict caused by outer vibrational acoustics. It is perhaps, a first time experience for many people, who are desperately seeking shelter, reassurance and security.

Singers possess a tremendous healing instrument, that could be beneficial in transcending the emotional upheaval that has crept into the whole worlds' psyche.

Take one moment to consider, God's brilliant creations and eavesdrop on the dominance of sounds that are transmitted daily. LISTEN...to the cognitive music, the symphonic voices and dissonant murmurs of earth creating the harmony of life within us.

Many of the world's most celebrated songs were written within and about the realm of nature.

You may consider listening to Joseph Canteloube's , " Chants d'Avergne ". Available in a series of five books, the repertoire includes 24 folksongs written in ancient Gaelic/French dialect, superbly arranged by Canteloube ( 1845-1924 ).

If you are interested in Cd's, seek out, " Chants d'Avergne " performed by Victoria de los Angeles. Kiri te Kanawa and Dawn Upshaw have also, recently, recorded this repertoire.

As Vocalists in this currently changing world, it may be advantageous, to study and enjoy some of the more alluring songs of life.

Composed, within each performers is an influential voice for HEALING, SHARING, CARING and SUPPORTING our disillusioned society.

I am receiving 3-5 e-mails per day requesting appropriate musical repertoire to perform during this unstable period of existence. My advise is to look for passion, hope and joyful dreams in composers such as Canteloube, Faure and Debussy.
