Okay, so I got a little cocky and thought I could be the one guy who predicted before the nominations. I was wrong in some cases, yet stand by my picks in others. Here, now, are my picks based on the nominations.
The fact that The Royal Tennebaums wasn't nominated for best picture says a lot about the state of Hollywood these days. Heaven forbid a well written, well acted, quirky movie about something as simple as family should be considered for an Oscar. From the choices given, i'm going to select Moulin Rouge as my pick, simply because it shirks the status quo and is inventive and unique. Best Actor- Again, Guy Pearce did an amazing job no matter what the malcontents over at Oscarville think. He's MY best actor, anyway. From this list, i'm going to choose Denzel Washington. Denzel is pure gold, no matter how you slice it. And if Russell Crowe wins, i'm pulling an Elvis on my television. Best Actress- I'm sticking with Nicole Kidman. Sure, its not for The Others, but Moulin Rouge will suffice in its stead. Either way she deserves it. Best Director- I'm boycotting this pick out of protest for the snub of Wes Anderson. For shame, Oscar, for SHAAAAME!! Best Foreign Film- Hands down...Amelie wins it. Best Original Screenplay- Royal Tennebaums in a landslide. Best Supporting Actor- How dare they dis Billy Bob? Those heathens! Ethan Hawke!?? ETHAN HAWKE!!??? Cripes! Anyway, since I don't care either way, how about Jon Voight, because his daughter married Billy Bob. Best Supporting Actress- Marisa Tomei. She's so cute. Just like a little kitty cat. Best Adapted Screenplay- Ghost World. Pure gold. That's it. Take 'em or leave 'em. Make sure you get plenty drunk for the broadcast. It'll be a long night. Go To Page: 1
