by her manager Earl Mills. This is the book that the Halle Berry bio-pic was based on, but again I found some inaccuracies. Some of the text is also skewed by Mill's unrequited love for Dorothy. However, it is an interesting collection of anecdotes. Music to listen to: Dorothy went to the recording studio in an attempt to revive her failing career. She was already hooked on pills and booze and unfortunately, her voice suffered. Though the tracks were considered unreleasable then, they are now available on a CD called Smooth Operator. There are some nice performances on the disc; her voice has the smooth, sensuous flavor of Chet Baker and Julie London. Thanks to Phillip Oliver for permission to use the beautiful photographs of Dorothy. Check out his terrific Dorothy Dandridge site "A Life Unfulfilled".
