The Bible is the greatest book of all. One article could hardly touch the surface of the message it contains. All of the Christianity Protestant articles touch only one small aspect, though the main message throughout the whole Bible either shows us something of Jesus Christ, or tells of God's love, that He would send His son as a sacrificial lamb, to die on the cross for all of the sins of mankind.
The Old Testament can be considered as a historical overview, not always detailing each event, and yet giving us insight of the character and capacity of God, as well as foretelling of events in the future and pointing the way to Jesus Christ.
The Jewish people were the race chosen through whom the Christ would come. God's intent after the fall of Adam, was to lead a people to the place where Jesus Christ could pass on the legacy and purpose to bring all people back to Himself.
The Old Testament also serves as faint word pictures of the pattern Christians would follow in the New. It is rich in its graphical illustrations of God's grace and mercy, as well as His power and patience as He brings a people from wickedness to righteousness through faith in Jesus Christ.
The Psalms are favorites for many, and give Christians hope and praises in the times of trials. Proverbs not only gives promises, but also instructions for righteous living.
The books of Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John tell of Christ's life and his ministry. They act as narratives of Christ from slightly different angles, and help us understand God through the way Christ acted as well as His teachings. They tell of God's fulfillment of all the old covenants and move us forward into a new life, which was opened when Christ died and rose again.
Jesus Christ was able to explain a more excellent law, to show that all men, except himself, had sinned and deserved eternal death, but that God's wonderful grace and mercy made a way for all to be saved.
The rest of the New Testament moves us still forward into understanding our new life and living by faith, appropriating our new life in Christ Jesus, reckoning our old natures to have died, and been buried. A significant event would be the entrance of the Holy Spirit in the lives of born again Christians. In Acts, we see the power and results of Holy Spirit filled believers as they continue to lead people into yet another phase.
