Souled Out III

There I was, cruisin' in my library delivery van, listening for particulars on the radio after having heard my wife tell me the night before, James Clay was going to be at Heartland Baptist Church (north of Knob Noster, MO). I heard it again! Ninth Hour and James Clay were going to perform on 8 November! I thought, count me in! It's a mere half hour drive from my home, and at least I knew James Clay to be a good artist. I heard Mr. Clay at the Ultimate Storm Invasion, and I wanted to share his sounds with my wife. She actually said she'd go with me!

We arrived about half an hour early, which was a good time-cushion. A Mercy Me concert we attended a couple months ago had a long line before opening time, and the ApologetiX concert I wrote about earlier had next to no line, but they both got packed. When we started walking toward the building, I wondered where all the adults could have been. Shortly, my wife heard from someone there that it was a youth-thing. Well, 45's not "old", so we stayed. It was surprising how many people we recognized. The church got packed, and Ninth Hour came on stage.

Ninth Hour played strong praise and worship music with a fairly hard rock sound. The attitude they reflected while they played indicated they really got joy out of their ministry. Sometimes I wish I wasn't so picky. I'd have bought one of their CDs, had the vocalist not been so nasal sounding. For example, glory starts with a "G" and shouldn't be pronounced, "nglory", but that's just my opinion. They still got an overall seal of approval. I'd go hear 'em again. They finished up and the featured speaker came to the microphone.

The speaker, Brad Fogarty, was a wild-looking guy! If his appearance didn't get your attention, his speaking grabbed you. Don't get all overconfident with your dedication to Christ. Stay humble. After all, all twelve of Jesus's disciples --His closest followers, left Him to be crucified. Peter "no-Lord-I'm-always-your-man" is a great example of this kind of overconfidence. Imagine Peter's feeling when Jesus made eye contact with him after the third denial as the cock crowed. You will be tested! Another of Brad's topics was accountability. If you think you can get away with hidden sin, think again! You're accountable! If you're not accountably trying to live His way here on Earth, you'll have to be accountable to Him when your life here is over. I liked Brad's Bible. It was read frequently, and it looked like it'd been thrashed around during quite a few speaking engagements. After Brad finished, James Clay arrived.
