March, '05 Update

  • Seventh Angel: This band has been in my collection since before I really started my quest, but for the longest time, only one album, and on cassette. Radrockers.com found a batch on CD, and made them available rather affordably. They're true heavy metal, or even thrash metal out of England. They sing a strong message, but you might have to refer to the lyrics to follow along for your first few times. Surprisingly, my daughter even likes Seventh Angel. [5 -for old-time's sake]
  • Speaking of Sarah: I wish I had this one for my "Something About Sarah" article. The funny thing is that the female vocalist's name is Diana Blythe. Very pleasant listen, but almost monotonous enough that it can blend into the background. Alternative to light pop. [4]
  • Tait: Michael Tait, formerly of DC Talk, kept the good sounds of that band, while Toby Mac ran off with almost all the rap. I was listening to Storm Radio a few weeks back, and had to call in. "What's that song you've got playing?" "Do you like it?" "Yeah, It's great!" "It's cool, isn't it? It's Tait's 'Reconnecting'." Anyway, I liked it enough I bought the album. Although Lose This Life is a bit softer than "Reconnecting", there are still five songs on it that rock pretty good. The album ranges from an almost Bing Crosbyish Christmas song to ballady soft stuff to really nice foot-stompin' real rock. [4]
  • Taylor Sorenson: Ethereal artsy light rock. Sometimes the vocal sounds a bit like Tear for Fears or Switchfoot. [4]
  • Ian Eskelin: Post-All Star United, Ian Eskelin's work is more power pop with slight punkish flavors, unlike his pre-All Star stuff which was boybandish. [4]
  • Juliana Theory: Psychedelic to heavy rock with punkish vocals. Some white-noisy/jangly guitars. [4] in doses.
  • Sky Harbor: Emoish alternative, but without the "screamo" often associated with the style. Some punkish flavor seeps in from time to time.

    Confession
I actually bought a Staci Orrico single last month --$1.99 used at Hastings. I've gotta confess, it's OK, although it's a single concentrating on human love.

Enjoy life through Jesus, and I hope you'll all drop by again.
