Something About SarahSarah Masen and Sara Groves have great websites. Sara Groves' even plays song clips. I liked that. Sarah Masen had a neat page of husband/wife commentary on various topics. I like to see husband/wife teams. I didn't find birth-years for Sarahs Sadler, Kelley, or Jahn. I found Sarah Sadler's website, but it seemed to be quite new, and very "under construction." Sarah Kelley got rave reviews in 2004, but was most-elusive, except at Family Christian's website. I found a website on her CD, but it was a bad link. The best I found on Sarah Jahn was at Jesus Freak Hideout. So the commonality certainly isn't an Internet presence. Sarah Jahn's vocals are at the low end of alto --contra-alto? I've heard Cher described as contra-alto, but I don't know If Sarah Jahn is quite as low. Her vocals are quite understandable, but sometimes mumbled. It's almost a lounge-style vocal set to artsy acoustic rock, with a little folk flavor. The music is very laid back and even a bit spacey. It's a good sound to punctuate a radio program or mix CD, but almost too similar in style for big doses. Sarah Kelley has a pleading intensity in her voice. The vocals are a bit slurred, but that intensity keeps the interest up. Sarah Kelley rocks a bit harder than the other Sarahs, but the sound, like with Sarah Jahn, is a bit too similar from song to song. Sarah Sadler's got a very pleasant, no-gimmicks voice. The instrumentals are light pop with minor, slightly eerie flavors. She mixes some great harpsichord sounds into the music, too. I guess it's just coincidence that I've got such a comparative abundance of Sarahs in my collection. I like all the Sarah CDs I've got, but I still wonder, why all those Sarahs? This is sort of weird, but I've also got Lost Dogs, Dogs of Peace, Thelma's Dog and Crash Dog. A funny thing about that, is they're all male-bands. I don't particularly like all their styles, but they're all in my collection. I wonder what's in the name, "Dog"? There's also Steve Taylor, Chris Taylor and Terry Taylor. Maybe there's a theme there, too.
