More Hotdogs, Anyone?

Environmentally Speaking

Since I never did get out to concerts before my finding Christian music (does one Neil Diamond concert count?), I can't really answer these questions. Here's where I try to generate some participation in the discussions section of this topic. Please, readers, answer these questions:

Do all outdoor concerts have a warm friendly atmosphere? I know Crossover had a friendly atmosphere, but it was nothing like that of a Hot Dogs concert. Do people at a Christian concert display this friendliness more than people at a secular concert?

Back when I heard Warrensburg was on Hot Dogs' concert schedule, I asked if they had a location, and I was asked if I could set one up. I hesitated, then Chuck, from Empty Tomb said he'd never done it before, when he did it for his first time, either --and he had less than two months notice. October 16th's concert features Go Forth, Empty Tomb, Inner Flame, Bar Judah and Thelma's Dog. I'd not yet heard Go Forth nor Thelma's Dog, but I know the other three are great bands.

I was surprised at how easy the arrangements were. The first place I asked (Central Missouri State University's Baptist Student Union) said they'd love to host Hot Dogs. I asked the trucking company (Hunt and Sons 660-747-6621) who provided the flatbed for the Master's Touch concert, and they said they'd do it again for Hot Dogs. I'd been putting off talking to the police about noise ordinances, so I was given a parking ticket to bring me to the police station. God works in wondrous ways. Even the police's noise and traffic instructions worked out perfectly. You readers really ought to try this some time (not the parking ticket part, of course). I'm sure there are lots of local Christian bands who'd love to play for the ministry of it or for the exposure.

I experience stuff at these local concerts I'd not seen before. The fellowship with all, performers/ministers and audience, is wonderful. There's a great joy in helping out where needed --setting up chairs, even picking up trash. And it's just plain fun to be with God and His family in an environment like that. Maybe it's a difference in that the Hot Dogs people are obviously not in it for the money. God knows what the difference in atmosphere is. I don't really know what makes it.

By the way, Chuck,
