Rock Music? It's Not What God Likes.

praise the Lord, according to the directions of David king of Israel; and they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord..." (Ezr 3:10-11) "And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem... celebrate... with singing, with cymbals, harps, and lyres." (Neh 12:27) "Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing!" (Is 49:13) "...the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands." (Is 55:12) Even in the future of John's Revelation, the elders, with harps "sang a new song..." (Rev 5:9) and in Rev 15:3, there's more harp and singing.

Our rock basher mentioned "mixed worship", "compromised musicians" and musicians who have backslid. What is meant by "mixed worship"? I surely don't know. And regarding compromisers and backsliders: consider Abraham (lying about Sarah), Rahab, King David and Saul turned Paul. It looks to me as though God doesn't really look at a person's past to determine if he or she is worthy to serve Him.

I've got to break this train of thought here, since I'm way over on article-length. The rock basher will proudly hold high, the verse about avoiding appearance of evil. Be careful about saying that, specially on an Internet-based mode of communication. The Internet is an extreme root of evil in many circles!
