Rock Music? It's Not What God Likes. The "new song" references could likely be prophesies for rock, and even future music. We've clearly got examples of dancing, and stringed and percussion instruments. "Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord saying, 'I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea. The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him.'" (Ex 15:1-2) "...you will meet a band of prophets coming down from a high place with harp, tambourine, flute and lyre before them, prophesying." (1 Sam 10:5) "Heman and Jeduthun had trumpets and cymbals for the music and instruments for sacred song." (1 Chr 16:42) "...prophesy with lyres, with harps and with cymbals... prophesyed with the lyre in thanksgiving and praise to the Lord... They were all under the direction of their father in the music in the house of the Lord with cymbals, harps, and lyres for the service of the house of God... The number of them who were trained in singing to the Lord, all who were skilful two hundred and eighty-eight." (1 Chr 25:1,3,6,7) Prophesying with instruments? (2 Chr 5:12-13) "The Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets... And when the burnt offering began, the song of the Lord began also, and the trumpeters accompanied by the instruments of David king of Israel. The whole assembly worshiped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded; all this continued until the burnt offering was finished." (2 Chr 29:26-28) "And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests in their vestments came forward with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise
