We've got some news to cover before getting into the traditional mini-reviews. I got to hear a new duo, and received a sophomore effort from an indie I covered earlier. Sunday Shoes is a difficult duo to classify. They've got a sort of appeal I can't seem to define. In other words, their musical style isn't the sort of stuff I'd usually choose to listen to, but it's got something I really like. I asked that the band provide some background. The following quote comes from a November '03 e-mail from Dan Epp: ...The Story of Sunday Shoes Chapter One.. Sunday Shoes starts as a duet with Danny Van and myself, it's an outlet for a personal and passionate musical expression of our faith.. Something between God and us.. didn't really care so much if a lot of people liked it, that would be OK, but it wasn't the "Big Reason". Then, something strange started happening.. a lot of people liked it, said they could relate to the struggles, the failures, and the hope we found in the unfailing love of a Carpenter.. Chapter two... Got a manager, started getting lots of play dates, got "stars in our eyes", went to Nashville, said we were "way too old", hired an attractive female friend of ours to make us look/sound younger, went back to Nashville, they said "We're not signing anybody under twenty, come back when the winds start to change", got bitter, thought about quitting.... but people were still sending us e-mails and letters and coming up to our CD table after our concerts introducing us to friends, family, husbands, sons and daughters who were somehow drawn to the Savior because of the music. (which only proves that God likes to use insignificant things to accomplish significant purposes) Chapter three We begin to complain less and listen more, and pray more, we begin to feel the awe and wonder that comes from knowing you've been called to be ministers of the Gospel (the rags to riches story of redemption that never gets old), weeping turns to dancing, we get filled with joy, we relax more, enjoy our wives and kids more, our lady friend pursues her business carreer, we get adopted by the fastest growing ministry in the world.. "Celebrate Recovery" and begin to "go ye therefore to all nations" sharing the resurrection story, we record an album with a producer who shouldn't have looked our way twice, in a studio we couldn't afford, with a band we've only performed with in our dreams.. and best of all... We wake up each morning excited to see where the road and the Spirit will lead us.

I wanted to take time out and thank you for a great site. As one who listens to more sedate type of Christian music, I certainly appreciate that indeed God uses mightly more rocky and rappy style of a ...
