September '03 Update

reach, give C.O.D. a call. Even non-rap folks will like 'em -- I did. E-mail Pastor Don Brown for more information. [4]

Annie Ohrazda: Country soloist out of Smithville, Missouri, sings both to pre-recorded tracks and her guitar. She's got a beautiful voice. (816)532-0431 for contact. I'd say more, but I'm not really into country music. I'm not even sure if Christian country music isn't really called Southern Gospel.

Uncommon Sense: Young rock band out of Olathe, Kansas, with alternative flavors. Strong, well-polished. I'm glad I asked about CDs. One band member let me follow him out to his car, where he had a box of them for sale. It's a worthy addition to my collection. [4]

Empty Tomb: Retro rockers. I heard hints of Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, and Deep Purple. They even have the appearance of a band of early Jesus-freaks. Their show was most friendly and fun. They're on my watch-for list, and they had a CD with a more personalized touch than most (home-burnt, and hand-written). They're another great addition to the collection. See them if you get a chance! Not only do these guys seem like family, but I found out a couple years back that they really are! They're related to my wife through marriage, but that's another story altogether.

Inner Flame: From Waynesville, Missouri, Inner Flame is a Texas-blues band. Lots of ZZ Top flavor seeped into this performance. I heard them at the Master's Touch Parking Lot Concert #1, and they impressed me. I hoped it wasn't just a first-time-hearing-them thing, and it wasn't. They're getting to feel a lot like family. (Hey, Inner Flame, if you're ever traveling through and need crash space, let us know!)

Bar Judah: Do you like hard, crunching, guitar-driven stuff like Pillar or P.O.D., but don't particularly like the rap? Bar Judah's your answer! I suppose they also sound a lot like 12 Stones without the growled yelling. It was real ear-candy to hear the drummer and four guitarists chug away. One vocalist even has a sound similar to Cat Stevens. Catch these guys if you can! [4]

Good News Garage Band: At first I wondered, "Country music with a slight rock flavor to close out the concert? Oh well." Then they shifted gears into some solid, loud and hard-rockin' blues! I found myself nodding my head to the pulsing music and smiling to the words,
