4th Elemynt

Los Angeles area based 4th Elemynt are known as the "Dru Hill of Gospel" for their combination of harmony, provacativity, vibe and feeling are that of a platinum group. This guy group consists of four young men named Jesse (JD) Davis, Eddie (Tom Tom) Cole, DaWann (T-Rel) Davis and Michael (Red) Sanchez who was started by Clarence Williams Jr., a local minister of music. Each member of this quartet is saved and armed with the gift of gospel music and the word of God to go forth and save the youth, the lost and the unsaved. "We want to reach everyone who doesn't know the goodness of Jesus, all the lost souls out there," informs DaWann. The group has been successfully sinnging together for a over 6 years, all except Michael, who came aboard in January 1999. The group's debut release, "Elemyntal" is a combination of smooth R&B grooves mixed with hip-hop, rap, jazz, and, yes, traditional gospel.

This is an outstanding album and it's pure gospel songs. Every track on this album is excellent starting with "4th Elemynt" which is the introduction song and gives insight about the group. "Leave Her Alone" which is the groups first single is a song about the biblical story about Mary Magdelene who was a prostitute and Jesus love for her despite her bad reputation and adulterous sinful life. God is telling everyone to 'leave her alone, she belongs to me,' the first one of you that is without sin, shall cast the first stone. Another song includes "Ears/Eyes" which mixes background instrumental sounds of floating violins, accompanied by beautifully blended vocal harmonies to make the point that "Ears have never heard/eyes have never seen the things God has prepared for you and me. Some relationship songs include "4Nik8 which is about a saved boyfriend telling a saved girlfriend that he does not want to have sex before he is married to her and "I Wanna Love You". Lastly, for "It's My Turn" which is a good Praise and Worship song showing "It's my turn to show You I love You by spreading Your word all around.".

Elemyntal is a fine first effort for the four exceptionally musically gifted and talented young men who comprise 4th Elemynt. This is a good choice for fans of Darwin Hobbs, Boyz II Men, Tribe of Benjamin, and Winans Phase 2.
