Still EncouragedWilliam Becton is another gospel artist who made waves on both the religious and popular charts, with fans of gospel as well as secular listeners who don't know (or care) about his underlying message. The singer and producer from Washington, D.C. released his debut album Broken in mid-1995 on Intersound, and watched the single "Be Encouraged" hit the R&B Top 40. His sophomore effort, Heart of a Love Song, appeared on A&M Records in October 1997; B2K: Prophetic Songs of Promise followed in the spring of 2000. The songs contain messages that reiterates the spoken word of God; edifying, uplifting and encouraging all to believe in Him. He is currently at the newly formed Gospel radio network, ABC-Rejoice and recently became an ordained minister. B2K : Prophetic Songs of Promise is undeniably gospel with an urban flavour. By that title, you can quickly see where this project is going. "This project contains prophetic songs, in that they are based on what God spoke to me directly and through his word. 'Promise' means there is a reward for walking in the principles that God has preordained for us all. So, if you put those two together, you have what God spoke prophetically and he has also added a promise for fulfilling that. So this whole record is about the fulfilling of promises." Former Temptation, Ali (Ollie) Woodson contributes his formidible pipes on two songs including the testimony, “Still Encouraged”. The young praise warriors will be attracted to the hot urban contemporary track “Get It Right”, which has a real R&B flava. Williwm Becton has a message for both the young and the young at heart. It is a prophetic message of timely melodious praise, confirming that God’s divine truth endures to all generations. B2K :Prophetic Songs of Promise is reminiscent of God’s promise to the faithful, as expressed in “No Good Thing”. It reminds us that God is “Bigger” in proportion than any problem or situation. “He’s In The Midst Of It All” is a song that draws you into total praise and worship. With Woodson contributing, and with the no-doubt vibe and beat of today's urban sounds, B2K: Prophetic Songs of Promise may just generate the same crossover appeal that made Broken such a runaway chart smash. It's obvious that Becton is very much in tune with current musical trends. He makes no apologies for that. Track List to "B2k: Prophetic Songs of Promise".
