My Life

DeLeon Richards has been singing professionally for most of her life. She started singing at five years old before 20,000 people at the Chicago Gospel Festival and recording at seven. She was known as the "Young Gospel Sensation" at the age of 5 years old. She has performed for numerous religious and political figures including former President Ronald Regan. At 9 years of age she became the youngest person ever to be nominated for a Grammy and was the youngest Gospel artist ever signed with a major recording company. She went on the road for the first time at age five opening for the Mighty Clouds of Joy in Japan, which commenced the beginning of her musical tour throughout the world. DeLeon is President of her own company, DeMari Publishing and Entertainment Inc., and writes much of her own music. She also won the GMWA award of Excellence and was nominated for a Stellar Award.

Currently, at the age of 22, she is an accomplished gospel artist with 7 recordings to her credit. Now signed with Tommy Boy Records, she is even more determined to complete the vision God has placed upon her. And her ideals and aspirations are definitely all grown up. DeLeon Richards sparkles like a jewel when she sings and has a good head on her shoulders. She has Christ in her heart and has a growing ministry. Additionally, with over 2 decades of performing experience in this seasoned artist's repertoire, DeLeon has also shared the stage with the likes of Shirley Caesar, Patti LaBelle, The Winans, Kirk Franklin and many others. Along with singing, DeLeon has also made a name for herself in film and television, making numerous appearances on the TBN, the 700 Club, and starring role on the ABC television drama Brewster Place starring Oprah Winfrey. DeLeon was also a national committee member for the Quaker Oats Voices of Tomorrow program and the 100 Black Men of America.

DeLeon says while her success and accomplishments have been great, there is nothing greater than her relationship with Jesus Christ. DeLeon's music is geared to bridge the generation gap with song that appeals to true Gospel fans as well as reaching younger listeners. She will be breaking new ground with her latest recording "My Life" in Gospel music and many feel that those who listen will also be blessed.
