The London-based quintet True Solace range in age from teens to 30-something and sing a collection of contemporary faith songs. The band is made up of Marcia, Loretta, Yolanda, Sheree and Susane . Their style is heavily influenced by the contemporary gospel musicians of today and is heavily peppered with R n' B, soul. They simultaneously thrill and hearten as they offer unique pronouncements of faith along with tales of tested strength and character. The origins of True Solace trace back to early 1995 while each member of the group developed their love of music in the church, . It was then that Yolanda Antonio, Susane Patterson-Smith, Sheree Pinheiro, and Marcia Walder began singing together as part of small chamber groups and the full choir at the Ruach Church in South London part of a thriving community of young singers and musicians. The music is geared to touch peoples lives and embraces positive and encouraging lyrics. True Solace bring a refreshing message of truth and possibility to their soulful debut, "A New Beggining." Hip-hop beats lay down a solid groove for the debut of this angelic quintet that's filled with gospel-tinged, R&B singers. The album contains a nice mix of ballads and more upbeat numbers. The production is excellent, the melodies are the kind that stick in your mind, and the themes are biblically on the money. The songs of "A New Beginning" range freely from the upbeat, rhythm-driven "Let Him In" to the funky, hip hop/vocal jam of "He's Around". In communicating universal messages of love and empowerment, the group brings vocal eloquence to such inspired Henry-composed tracks as the groove-laden "Where You Lead Me" and the touching "The Highest Place." However, it is the album-opening "Heaven's Glory" that wholly characterizes the inspiration behind "A New Beginning." The group also hopes to serve as a source of encouragement to others courting big dreams. It's a wish beautifully communicated within the lines of the smooth-flowing "Believe It." As to the album itself well, its powerful, fresh and Jesus is in it, too many times we hear stuff that is good but vague, nothing like that here. The girls show their powerful ministry to full effect, typified by heavy-laden bass beats and production skills of keyboard supremo Howard Francis. This album is a must. But don't take my word for it, listen to the sample clips below and decide for yourself!!! The album is very mellow, relaxed, easy and the tempo is free.
