The Mississippi Mass Choir consists of 100 spiritually gifted members and was founded in 1988 by Jerry Mannery. The Choirs sound is traditional and Southern gospel music. Some of their releases were 1993's "It Remains to Be Seen" which remained number 1 on the Billboard for 12 months. Additional releases include 1995's "New Creation", 1996's "I'll See You in the Rapture" and 1999's "Emmanuel: God with Us". The Mississippi Mass Choir remains as one of Gospel's most respected and esteemed traditionally-based collectives. The choir relies on the familiar team of David Curry, Jerry Smith, and Jerry Mannery to select and arrange the compositions that typify the sound and spirit of Mississippi and its best known choir.
The Choir's latest project Emmanuel (God With Us) comes through with great vocals, solid songs, and anointed soloists. A fresh Mississippi Mass Choir project always generates excitement and anticipation. Some of the songs on the album include "He Can Fix What Is Broke" with backup vocalist Rogina Thomas, "Jesus Is Your Friend", and the soothing "Be At Home Lord". Additionally, the title cut "Emmanuel" is an encouraging, and uplifting mid-tempo ballad featuring soul stirring mass choir sounds. Also on this CD is the presence of long-time Mississippi Mass soloist, Lillian Lilly on "Let Him Bless You". Emmanuel is an outstanding album that will bless all of its listeners.
