Kelli Williams is a 19 year old well-rounded musical diva from Nashville, Tennessee. She is also known as "Kelster" and started her professional debut at the age of ten with Larnelle Harris and Take 6. She's toured with CeCe Winans, Yolanda Adams, and many others. Williams signed to the Word label and released her self-titled debut album in 1995 after winning on the syndicated television talent show Star Search in 1993. The album spawned a hit gospel single, "Thank You" and after opening up for CeCe Winans, Kelli Williams released her second album, I Get Lifted , in early 1998. Her songs are traditional gospel, and have a hip-hop feel aimed at encouraging her listeners. Kelli remains a positive influence to the younger vocalists who travel with her on her tours. "The message she stresses to them is that it's imperative to understand their individuality, but also their unity in Jesus Christ. "When we compare ourselves to one another as being either inferior or even superior, we lose focus on our calling," she states. "Do not get caught up in pitfalls, but follow God so that He can shield you from these hurtful things."
Kelli Williams is a natural talent since the time she picked up a microphone to her first outstanding performance before an audience. Kelli's music reveals a message to everyone of God's love. Kelli grew up and was raised in a Christian home and heard religious music; however, she admits that she did not always have a true relationship with the Lord. She took the lyrics she heard for granted and tried to be religious without completely surrendering her all. "Once I went through some things and got to know Him for what He is-love-my whole life changed completely. That's the kind of God every person (young and old) has got to know." Kelli developed her unique style while listening to the influential sounds of more traditional artists such as Tramaine Hawkins, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey. Kelli Williams primary focus is to go beyond cultural, racial, and denominational diversity to reach as many people as she possibly can through her music. I Get Lifted Track List
