Conversations

Greg O'Quin 'n Joyful Noyze 13-track set could be thought of as true R&B for urban fans with a great touch of a modern traditional beat. Greg reports back from the long journey he's traveled with these mesmerizing songs and lyrics. The album consists of songs which display interludes of dramatic dialogue, and intense sound effects which recreate scenarios of the daily struggles and triumphs of life. It goes far beyond a simple collection of songs with tracks running from a wide range of funky and hip-hop, ballads to mid-tempo R & B, praise & worship anthems and traditional hand clapping Gospel. "There are encounters between real people in real-life situation," says Greg, "...the mall, an airport, on a basketball court, cooking in the kitchen, driving on the freeway. The songs and interludes are all taken fro my own life and the lives of people I've gotten to know and talk to as we've toured around the country. They're conversations between people and God, as well as person to person about God and who He is in their lives."

This is certainly designed for O'Quin who enlists the help of his nine-voice ensemble. It has a Tri-City/Kirk Franklin sound to it, although it really has a style of it's own. Greg O'Quin does the keyboards and his chorale do the vocals. It is evident from this album who the Lord is and has been in Greg's life. It's written into every word and note of Conversations. The urban edge on this new project is unmistakable. There are several hot spots on this album that are guaranteed to make a definite mark on the industry. The year has been filled with many challenges for Greg such as the senseless murder of his cousin Thomas Wade was his most grievous moment. Additionally, the illnesses among both friends and relatives, and the pressures of keeping a band and vocal ensemble on the road. However, O' Quinn victory and determination is undoubtedly demonstrated in this project. Indeed, Conversations is a definite winner and should be the album to put Greg O'quin 'N Joyful Noyze on the map for a long time to come. O'Quin's traditional ballads will definitely encourage challenge each individual to another level of relationship with Christ.
