Angella Christie

Angella Christie is originally from Los Angeles, CA whose parents are missionaries. She grew up in a pentecostal home and has her early musical foundations from the church. She attended the High School of Performing and Visual Arts at the University in Houston, TX. She began playing the saxophone at age 14 by the prompting of her mom. She is the only nationally known recorded female Christian saxophonist in the world. Her musical influences are David Sanborn, her mom and the Clark Sisters where she emulated on the sax what she heard singers do. She in essence developed her unique style with a jazz flavor whose motivation of playing is for the sole purpose to lift the name of Jesus, glorify God and to advance His kingdom. She has ministered before religious and civic leaders. She is a Stellar Award nominee and has successfully established a 12-year full time music ministry. Angélla Christie's national reputation has been on a non-stop spiral since her two releases.

Angélla Christie's latest CD "Hymn & I" is definitely amazing. Hymn & I depicts the hymnal of Angella's life. It is a musical journey into an intimate relationship. Every song has a special and true sentiment to Angella because it reflects a certain time in her life including "Love lifted Me", "I Surrender All", "Great is Thy Faithfulness", "Walk With Me", and "I'll Be Thinking of U". . It is an 11 hymn compilation of many of the traditional contempory and urban style songs of the church. These magnificient selections incorporate passionate songs and sounds of generations past and present while influencing gospel music for the millennium. "My hope for Hymn & I is to reach the masses by masterfully performing our music, the songs of the church. It is my contribution toward reclaiming and introducing standard songs to a new generation."

This project is a love story and reveals divine passion between Angella and her Lord. It is actually comprised of deep heartfelt songs that express an innermost passion for the lover of her soul, Jesus. The project was recorded live at a studio with the purpose of capturing the element of the church where the music could be enjoyed with its smooth gospel harmonies. Also, to evoke intimacy and a renewed spirit in the hearts of listeners to worship and praise an infinite and mighty God. Hymn & I is indeed a masterpiece and every selection is a testimony to the trials, triumphs, and affirmation of faith to the Creator. Hymns embody a wealth of sub-stance to pass on to generations to come.
