God Can & God WillDottie Peoples is known as the Songbird of the North, and is one of the most honored gospel singers of the 1990's. Dottie has been distinguished as an industry icon for her successful CDs, awards, nominations, and numerous Billboard Chart top ten songs. Her musical excellence is so eloquently displayed with her latest project God Can & God Will. She presents an outstanding album with rich traditional groove sounds and anointed songs. The energy flows from the opening introduction and builds momentum through to the end. Some of the tracks include Faith Is, God Can, and her Balladry tracks include All My Help and Compassion which reveals her Songbird status. Dottie's steady rise to the top of the music industry started with two 1991 cassette albums, Is It Worth It All? and Surely God Is Able, which caused her to be nominated for a Stellar Award for Best Female Solo Performance: Traditional. Her album "On Time God" won 4 Stellar Awards in 1995 including Traditional Female Vocalist Of The Year and Tradional Choir, Album Of The Year, and Song of the Year (the title track). She also won the prestigious Vision Award that year by "Bobby Jones Gospel" of Black Entertainment Television and Gospel Today Magazine. "On Time God stated gospel legend Charles Fold is "A song of great substance," also won the Atlanta Gospel Choice Award for Song of the Year and was nominated for the 1995 Soul Train "Lady Of Soul Award." Following that Album was "Count On God" in 1996 which won Dottie the 1996 Female Vocalist of the Year Award, and she was additionally nominated at the Dove Awards. Dottie Peoples 1997 project "Testify" is a musical affirmation of her talent, passion and praise to God. It features traditional songs with a newfangled flair, as well as several contemporary tunes which she specifically catered to the younger market. "I geared this project more towards young people. I have a lot of young fans, and I wanted to give them more than the usual one or two songs."Some of the tracks geared to youth are "Wash Me", "Joy In The Morning", and "Clean Heart." Anticipated favorites on this project are the title track, Testify, Begin Again, and Just A Few Things is the realization of a dream. It features Dottie with a quartet rendering background vocals. The ability to perform is an essential component to any gospel great. Dottie's performance is certainly to be commended. She has shared the stage with Kirk Franklin, and Shirley Caesar, and many others. She has sang the "National Anthem" at the Atlanta Hawks basketball games, which resulted in a post game gospel concert. Television audiences have been mesmerized by her appearances on "The Bobby Jones Show," TBN's "Gospel Hour," and "The Richard Roberts National Television Show."
