Mercy in the Wilderness

Gospel singer Steve Camp grew up in a Christian environment in his home town of Wheaton. He begun his musical training at an early age, starting his first band in the sixth grade before joining the Campus Life Singers while at high school. However, though he continued to join bands at college, a natural shyness prevented him from presenting his own songwriting compositions to a live audience until a later stage. His Christian convictions eventually gave him the courage to air these songs following the death of his father. Two of the songs on his subsequent debut album, 'Song For Mom' and 'Let Your Heart Not Be Troubled', directly arose from his sense of loss and grief at this time.

Steve Camp also supports and is a representative of Food for the Hungry, a Christian relief and development organization founded in 1971 that feeds physical and spiritual hungers in more than 25 of the world's poorest countries. Programs include child sponsorships, agriculture and water system development, education and skills training, micro-enterprise loans and more. Ministry opportunities include short-term construction and medical teams and longer-term assignments through their unique Hunger Corps program. Steve Camp Mercy In The Wilderness Album is a different Steve Camp than on Taking Heaven By Storm. In the jacket, Camp writes; "My deepest prayer as you listen to this album is that your love and worship would mature and grow in Christ. Not simply to praise Him for what He can give us (though He has blessed us in the heavenlies with every spiritual blessing in Christ) but more importantly for who He is and all that He has accomplished for the purpose of His glory!" This sets the tone for the album--high praise and worship from the title cut "Mercy In The Wilderness" to "Remember Me." If you're into high praise and worship of the Lord because of His worthiness and holiness, this album is for you--full of "high choir" back ups. It starts out with God caring and being good to His people though they be in or going through the wilderness. Just as He cared and took care of the Israelites, His Son, and us in the wilderness. are "psalms" that David of old would be proud to sing.
