Ben Glover...26 Letters

Christian Music Day 2001 was held on September 22, 2001 in Charlotte, NC and featured the following artists...Yvette Sanchez, Paul Allen, Ben Glover, Age of Faith (re-united for this concert after a two year break), Geoff Moore, Mark Schultz, Veggie Tales (Bob & Larry), Stacie Orrico, and The "Free to Fly" Tour featuring: FFH and Point of Grace. While at this excellent festival I got to catch up with  Ben Glover, one the best new artists of 2001 on tour these days. I did a short real audio interview with him which you can listen to at the currently being developed Christian Music Day 2001 website or at the link towards the bottom.

The new Word Records artist Ben Glover's debut 2001 release of his album "26 Letters" has secured this talented young man a place in the Contemporary Christian Music scene. His acoustic guitar pop style throughout the CD is very very similar to the multi Dove winner, Steven Curtis Chapman. In a nutshell, if you like Mr. Chapman's music, Ben's new album "26 Letters" is one that you'll want to add to your collection.

It starts out with a very catchy upbeat title track where he says that the 26 letters of the alphabet just aren't enough to express his thankfulness and  love for God. This song which is my favorite on the CD...probably because I heard it a million times on WRCM, is not only musically rated as tops, but is cleverly written despite the opening lyrics that say "I can't form a sentence to save my life. I try to coin a phrase but can't make it sound right". I believe that the best coined phrases I've heard in CCM are the chorus lines from this tune that state "I try to express with adjectives of thankfulness but, I don't know if I can do it with 26 letters".

Most everyone probably thinks these words came from his close relationship with the Lord, and this is true, but there is a little more to it. Being curious about my fav tune on the most excellent CD  I asked Ben if he could give some insight on where the words for the title track came from and he replied " My fiancee actually wrote me a letter that said that she was limited to the 26 letter alphabet to tell me and express her love for me. I guess it kind of inspired me to think about the love we have for the Lord and the love He has for us. It's the same kind of the thing where you just have 26 letters to describe your love to the Lord and how that's kind of minimal". Visit CDNOW to listen the "26 Letters" sound clip before you purchase the CD. Just type in BEN GLOVER and it will take to the page with the sound clip and album info.
