Amy Grant . . . Behind The Eyes

Amy Grant has around 20 years experience in the music industry including five Grammys and over 18 million copies in album sales. Behind the Eyes was released in U.S. on Sept. 29, 1997 and then released in Europe on Oct. 1, 1997. Two and a half months later, on the week ending Dec. 14, Behind the Eyes was certified gold!

Here's a little of what Amy says about the album.
"These songs are not about life being perfect," "They are not about convincing anybody of anything, but I'm willing to stand behind every one of these songs and say, Either you like them or not but they are all meaningful for me."

About some of the songs
Nobody Home, uses a story about Main Street USA. This is about a town that use to be busy and popular, but now is a ghost town. This is a nice ballad and could be related to our walk with Christ. Think about it . . . . Do we pack up and leave what we know is true? If the Lord is knocking your heart's door, is anybody home?
I Will Be Your Friend reminds me of the words of Jesus where He says I will never leave you nor forsake you. This is the message I get from this song, just like the lyrics in the chorus when she sings along with beautiful simple acoustic arrangements and organ in the background. I will be there when you call my name. You can always depend on me. This song is very encouraging for those who need to know that Jesus will never fail.

The next song, Like I Love You, sounds like the old tune by The Animals called House of the Rising Sun for the first 15 seconds, with similar chords. But at the 16-second mark you hear the melodic voice of Amy bringing up the issue of those who have experienced a broken heart. She opens the door on sad and painful memories and shines the light of hope that there is a love that will love you like never before, and a broken heart can be mended.

Takes a Little Time, the single, was released to Christian Book Stores on July 29,1997. It has a catchy melody and lyrics that everyone can relate to at one time or another. Sometimes you need to give things a little time to get your feet back on the ground. It's just like the old adage and lyrics say, Rome wasn't built in a day!.

I've seen her in Concert a couple times, and she always had time to declare her faith publicly in front of the fans.

It's sortta sad that Christians put other Christians down like they did her.
