Wondering where the band's name name came from? Scarecrow's lead singer/keyboardist Chris Padgett explains ""We wanted something that people would be intrigued by, but would exemplify our music, which has a dominant Christian intent, from evangelism to encouraging the body of Christ. In the Wizard of Oz, the Scarecrow needed a brain and the Tinman needed a heart. As Christians, we are given a new heart and a new mind. We thought that pretty much encapsulated what we're about."

Chris founded the band in 1994, then Bradley DeRosia - lead guitarist, Ryan Gingerich - acoustic guitar, and Darren Yoder, the drummer joined in to complete the picture.

The Scarecrow and Tinmen music genre was originally dubbed "technofolk." which is a combination of melodic vocals, excellent harmony lines, acoustic guitar, and old analogue synthesizers. This sound best describes their first album "NO PLACE LIKE HOME". The "technofolk sound" is now morphed into a more rockier style, techno-folk-rock? on the new album just released on June 20, 2000 entitled "SUPERHERO".

I believe these guys are here to stay and look forward to hearing more from them in their future releases. They are gaining experience and it shows in this album! I haven't seen them in concert since their tour in 99, but they also put on an excellent concert back then, and are not ashamed of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the middle of the show, Chris whipped out a Bible and preached a sermonette in his computer like voice explaining the Father's love...This guy is anointed, but kinda weird at times. My hair was standing on end listening to him minister. Then they gently started the ballad "YOU ARE MY SON" and my spiritual goose bumps had goose bumps! They also like to have fun with the fans, and had some Mountain Dew chugging/belching contests with randomly chosen fans from the audience, plus some other fan participating games, as well as the tossing of CDs of course. One thing that I hope Chris learned "not" to do is to stage dive in an area where there isn't many people standing! You guessed it! He splattered on the pavement but shot back up like he had springs in his gut or something! BTW...The show went on, and it didn't appear it hurt him or his ego at all. It did bend one of the two semi-transparent white angel wings a little that he had on the back of his bright neon green jacket though.

OK...now that you have heard a little bit about this band, you can listen
