Five Iron Frenzy's "Newest Album Ever"

© Daniel Janowski

Five Iron Frenzy is one of the best Christian ska-core bands in the field, and they have a new album coming out. It's due for release on Nov. 11, 1997, and is wittily called "Our Newest Album Ever." This album was produced by Masaki of Dime Store Prophets and will be released on Sarabellum Records.

Ska is usually a modern rock sound mixed with jazz and reggae, just in case you're wondering what ska was. The two samples I heard off of the CD remind me of the old Chicago Record Albums I use to have. They have a similar sounding orchestra of brass in both of the tunes!

The Refuge Store has a couple sound clips off of the upcoming Five Iron Frenzy CD for those interested in hearing some of the new FIF. They use Real Audio to make the sound clips, so you'll need the Real Audio player to hear them. To get a free player, pick one up at http://www.realaudio.com . OK — are ya ready to hear them now?

Over here you can listen to Track #1 and listen to Track #2

OK — if you like what you heard, here's some more good news! At The Refuge Store, you can buy this now and they'll ship it when it's released on Nov. 11th! For only $12!!! The Refuge Store is a non-profit organization that feeds the homeless, operates an alternative church, and runs the coolest music venue in Florida.

Some more notes of interest here are that Five Iron Frenzy will be featured on the Nov./Dec. cover of 7Ball Magazine with a feature article. They were also just nominated by The Door Magazine as This week's ugliest Christian band, and, from what I hear, they were very proud of that!
